The « Culture » programme aims at promoting the common cultural space and cultural heritage of Europeans, by developing croos-border cultural cooperation thus favouring the establishment of a European citizenship. This programme has a budget of 400 millions euros for the period 2007 to 2013.
supporting sustainable cultural cooperation
As the only programme for community actions in the field of Culture, the « Culture » programme aims to support sustainable cooperation between artists, cultural operators and cultural institutions at a European level. It is specifically aimed at promoting cross-border mobility of cultural operators, encouraging the transnational circulation of works and cultural and artistic output, and fostering intercultural dialogue.
three strands of action
In order to cover the entire cultural sector and include all categories of cultural operators, the programme is divided into three strands of action:
- support for cultural actions
- support to cultural organisations active at a European level in the field of culture,
- support for analysis and dissemination activities as well as to actions that increase the impact of projects in the field of European cultural cooperation and the setting up of a European cultural policy.
