Cultural diversity is an essential concept within the political project of the EU, encouraging reflection and debate, and particularly well applied within the cultural programmes and policies of the EU. The concept and its derivatives are particularly well implanted at a European level as one of the key aims developed within the strategies of the EU. Together with intercultural dialogue (another key cultural challenge for the EU which became the key theme of the EU for 2008), concept and tool work hand in hand.
